| Awarded to incoming freshmen from Illinois who have a minimum ACT composite score of 29 (1300 SAT), class rank in the top 10%, and demonstrated leadership skills. The Presidential scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships on campus. Nineteen scholarships are awarded annually and consist of in-state tuition, fees, and on-campus, double occupancy room and board for four years. Students must submit a Presidential/Chancellor scholarship application and a two page essay. Students should be admitted into Southern with qualifying credentials by November 1 in order to receive the scholarship application in a timely manner. Applications are due on December 11, 2009. Application and academic credentials are reviewed in December and students will be notified in January if they are selected for the on-campus interview that will be held, Saturday, February 6, 2010. Students will need to attend the interview for consideration, no make-up dates are scheduled. All academic scholarships are competitive and are offered on a funds-available basis. Students must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents to be eligible for this scholarship. |
