Annual Costs for SIU Students

Below is a breakdown of the estimated costs at SIU for two semesters, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and living expenses for both undergraduate and graduate students. Please note the following:

  • Students are responsible for their books and supplies. They should come to SIU with sufficient funds to buy books, supplies and other items necessary to begin the semester, even if the student is expecting financial aid or plans to work on campus.  SIU does not issue book vouchers.  The books and supplies allowance is based on full-time enrollment, but books and supply expenses will vary based on the courses that the student is taking.
  • Miscellaneous expenses vary greatly based on the individual student’s lifestyle. The allowance includes transportation, clothing, living expenses not covered by on-campus housing, recreation, and other miscellaneous costs.
